About GCSE
GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education — the main qualification students work towards at ages 14 to 16, in Years 10 and 11, in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Study runs for two years and all exams are taken at the end.
Most students sit 8 to 10 GCSEs. English, maths and science are the core GCSEs, and schools also teach computing, PE and citizenship. Schools must offer subjects from the arts, technology, humanities and modern languages. The combination your child takes shapes what they can study next. You can see the subjects we teach at GCSE.
In England, GCSEs are graded 9 to 1, with grade 4 the standard pass and grade 5 a strong pass. Our tutors work to the exact specification, tier and past papers your child’s school uses, so lessons line up with what will actually be marked.
Who GCSE Is For
GCSE is the right starting point for most secondary school students, but the subjects and tier your child takes can shape their options for years afterwards. These are the students who fit this stage:
- Students aged 14 to 16 preparing for secondary school qualifications
- Learners planning to progress to AS Level, A Level or higher study
- Students building a strong academic foundation for future education
- Students taking GCSEs outside the UK
- Families who want live progress reporting, not ad hoc homework help

GCSE Exam Boards

Edexcel
Pearson Edexcel sets GCSEs for schools in England on the 9 to 1 grading scale. We match your child to a tutor who knows the exact specification, tier and past papers for the subjects they are entered for.

AQA
AQA is one of the UK's largest exam boards. We cover its GCSE specifications with targeted revision and past-paper practice.
GCSE Subjects We Teach
Subject availability and tier vary by board and by country, so we confirm your child’s exact specification and tier before matching a tutor. These are the subjects we teach for GCSE.
A Teaching Approach Built for GCSE
Our teaching starts from the specification your child’s school enters them for, at the tier they have been entered for. Tutors map the two years, decide what to cover each week, and mark work the way the board will mark it. Lessons are structured and exam-aligned, so subject knowledge grows alongside exam technique.
Lessons run live and one to one, in your local time zone. Regular assessments and marked past papers show what to fix next, and progress is tracked through the year, so nothing important is left to the last few weeks before the exams.
