About O Level Maths
O Level Mathematics (Syllabus D) 4024 is a Cambridge International qualification, usually taken at the end of Year 11 and designed for students aged 14 to 16. It covers nine topics, from number and algebra through to trigonometry, vectors, probability and statistics.
The thing that surprises most families is how simple the structure is. There are no tiers, and no Core and Extended routes to choose between. Every candidate takes the same two papers: Paper 1, where a calculator is not allowed, and Paper 2, where a scientific calculator is required. Both are 2 hours and worth 100 marks, and both carry 50% of the qualification. Grades run from A* down to E.
So the whole grade depends on two papers and nothing else, and half of it is written without a calculator at all. That is why we spend real time on non-calculator method and mental arithmetic alongside the calculator work, and why we mark written working as closely as the final answer. We work from real past papers, and you can see how our O Level tutoring works.

Cambridge O Level Maths: The Board We Cover
Cambridge International is the only board offering Cambridge O Level Mathematics. We teach 4024 in full, including both the non-calculator and calculator papers.
Cambridge
Cambridge O Level Mathematics (Syllabus D) 4024 is untiered. All candidates take two components and are eligible for grades A* to E, with A* the highest and E the lowest. Paper 1 is a 2 hour non-calculator paper worth 100 marks, and Paper 2 is a 2 hour calculator paper worth 100 marks. Each carries 50% of the qualification. A scientific calculator is required for Paper 2, and one with trigonometric functions is strongly recommended, but algebraic and graphical calculators are not permitted; calculators are not allowed for Paper 1. Both papers mix structured and unstructured questions, and candidates answer all questions on the question paper, showing all necessary working. Paper 1 tests any of the subject content except the calculator topic. On Paper 2, non-exact answers should be given to 3 significant figures, or 1 decimal place for angles in degrees. A List of formulas sits on page 2 of both papers, though not every required formula is given. Both papers are externally set and marked by Cambridge, and the syllabus sets about 130 guided learning hours. Exams are available in the June and November series, and the syllabus is available to centres in administrative zones 3, 4 and 5.
How Centaurus Helps O Level Maths Students Excel
Non-Calculator Fluency
Paper 1 forbids calculators and carries half the grade. We build the mental and written method that paper demands, not just calculator habits.
Calculator Technique
Paper 2 rewards clean working, 3 significant figures and no early rounding. We drill exactly what the mark scheme wants.
One Target, Two Papers
There are no tiers to hide behind. Both papers are 2 hours and 100 marks, so we keep them balanced rather than favouring the easier one.
Working and Method Marks
The mark schemes award more marks for working where appropriate. We coach the layout examiners reward.
Classes in Your Local Time
Live group sessions scheduled around your time zone, so no late nights or early mornings just to make a class.
24/7 Progress Reporting
Families get access to the Centaurus Academy LMS, with attendance, progress and lesson notes available to parents, students and teachers at any time.
