About IGCSE Additional Mathematics
Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606 is a separate maths qualification that sits between IGCSE Mathematics and AS & A Level Mathematics. Cambridge describes it as providing strong progression for advanced study of mathematics or highly numerate subjects.
Its content reaches well past IGCSE Mathematics. The qualification is organised into 14 topic areas, against 9 for Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580, and it adds integration, logarithmic and exponential functions, circular measure, and permutations and combinations, with angles measured in radians. Differentiation appears in both, but 0580 reaches it only in the Extended tier and stops at gradients and stationary points.
The structure is simpler than IGCSE Mathematics and less forgiving. There is no tier, so every candidate sits the same two papers, each 2 hours and 80 marks. Grades run A* to E, against A* to G on 0580. Paper 1 bans the calculator, which means half the marks come from written and algebraic method. We work from real past papers.
Who IGCSE Additional Mathematics Is For
This course suits students who are ready to go beyond IGCSE Mathematics and want to reach A Level already ahead.
- Year 10 and Year 11 students taking Cambridge 0606 alongside IGCSE Mathematics
- Students planning to go on to AS & A Level Mathematics
- Learners who find IGCSE Mathematics comfortable and want more challenge
- Students who need integration, logarithms and circular measure taught from first principles
- Students aiming for grades A* to C, the band Cambridge links to further study

IGCSE Additional Mathematics Exam Boards We Cover
Cambridge 0606 is the qualification we teach for this subject. It is not tiered, so there is no Foundation or Higher route and no second paper to fall back on. Every candidate sits the same two exams, and grades run A* to E.
Cambridge
Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606 has no tiers, and all candidates take two components. Paper 1 is a 2 hour non-calculator paper of structured and unstructured questions worth 80 marks and 50% of the qualification. Paper 2 is a 2 hour calculator paper on the same pattern, worth 80 marks and 50%, and candidates should have a scientific calculator. Both papers are externally assessed. Candidates are eligible for grades A* to E. The content runs across 14 topic areas: functions, quadratic functions, factors of polynomials, equations, inequalities and graphs, simultaneous equations, logarithmic and exponential functions, straight-line graphs, coordinate geometry of the circle, circular measure, trigonometry, permutations and combinations, series, vectors in two dimensions, and calculus. Two assessment objectives share the marks: knowledge and understanding of mathematical techniques, and the ability to analyse, interpret and communicate mathematically.
How Centaurus Helps IGCSE Additional Mathematics Students Excel
One Qualification, Taught Properly
There is no tier and no alternative paper to hedge against. Every lesson is aimed at the two papers your child will actually sit.
The A Level Bridge
Integration, logarithms and radians all return in AS & A Level Mathematics. We teach them so they land properly the first time.
Non-Calculator Confidence
Paper 1 bans the calculator, so half the marks rest on written and algebraic method. We drill it weekly.
Grades A* to C Focus
Cambridge links grades A* to C to readiness for further study. Our targets sit inside that band, not below it.
Classes in Your Local Time
Live group sessions scheduled around your time zone, so no late nights or early mornings just to make a class.
24/7 Progress Reporting
Families get access to the Centaurus Academy LMS, with attendance, progress and lesson notes available to parents, students and teachers at any time.
