About This Course

The IGCSE Cambridge Pakistan Studies course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Pakistan’s historical foundations, physical and human geography, and the challenges and opportunities facing the country today. The course is designed to help learners develop a strong sense of national identity alongside critical awareness of Pakistan’s place in the wider regional and global context.

In the history component, students study the key events, movements, and personalities that led to the creation of Pakistan and shaped its early development. They explore political, social, and religious factors, examining cause and consequence, change and continuity, and the significance of historical decisions. This enables students to understand how historical developments continue to influence Pakistan’s society and governance.

The geography component focuses on Pakistan’s natural environment and human activities. Students examine physical features such as climate, rivers, and natural resources, as well as population distribution, agriculture, industry, and trade. The syllabus highlights issues of development, resource management, and environmental challenges, encouraging learners to analyse how geographical factors affect economic growth and quality of life.
